What is Forest Wind?

Forest Wind is a major clean energy infrastructure project proposal in Queensland

We are seeking to develop and construct a site of up to 226 turbines, potentially generating 1200MW of clean energy. That’s enough energy to supply 1 in 4 Queensland homes.

Forest Wind offers a unique combination of access to a suitable wind resource that can be captured at scale, whilst having a low impact on communities and the environment.

Fully constructed, Forest Wind will be a cornerstone of Australia’s clean energy future.

Community engagement and feedback

The team has been busy since Forest Wind was publicly announced on the 19th December 2019 trying to reach as many people in the local community as possible to share information about the Forest Wind project proposal.

Over 900 letters have been hand delivered or posted to residents and property owners within a 5km radius of a proposed turbine site introducing Forest Wind, the website and feedback form, and inviting the community to attend one of our community information sessions.

We have also placed ads in five local newspapers and tried to get the word out with interviews given with ABC Radio and Fraser Coast Chronicle and Channel 7.

We are always interested in receiving your feedback. You can submit your feedback via our online form.

What’s new on our website?

A lot of new information has been added to our website in response to the inquiries and topics of interest from the community. This includes:

Jobs and business opportunity

We have had great interest in Forest Wind from business and job seekers all across the Wide Bay region. So far, 30 businesses have registered their interest and will be included on our supplier database. Businesses on the the database will receive information about upcoming supplier engagement events and opportunities.

First Nations People

The developers of Forest Wind respectfully acknowledge the Butchulla First Nation and Kabi Kabi First Nation People of the land on which Forest Wind is proposed. We are consulting with the Butchulla and Kabi Kabi First Nation representatives on land use and we look forward to future partnerships through which employment and training, business development and contracting opportunities, cultural heritage protection and environmental management may be pursued.
